There are endless inexpensive and creative ways to plan your at-home soiree that are often overlooked. We suggest selecting a theme to tie the entire event together. It could be as simple as picking a summer color scheme or you can go all out with one of our 8 Unique Summer Party Themes for 2021. Of course, with a theme comes decorations and activities. To inspire you, here are seven of our favorite design ideas that will spice up your event!

1. Incorporate Seasonal Flowers and Greenery

Using flowers as centerpieces for your tables is a great way to add some fun vibrant colors and fragrances to your BBQ. Use mason jars or metal tins instead of traditional vases for a creative and down-to-earth look.

2. Set up Yard Games

Yard games are not only a great source of entertainment at any backyard event, they also can look super chic! Whether it’s a classic like cornhole, or more unique, like giant chess, these games are sure to keep your guests entertained all day long.

3. Low Tables with Poof Seating

Comfortable seating for your guests is a must! Poofs are a fun and unique way to make your outdoor space feel cozier. This is the perfect option for a more casual backyard event.

4. Bistro Light Canopy

If your barbeque runs into the evening you will want to include some outdoor lighting. Create an illuminated covering over the space where your guests with just bistro lights to take your event to the next level.

5. Let Your Linens do the Talking

Dress up your tables with some decorative linens. Get creative with a fun pattern like gingham, wide stripes, or geometric.

6. Use Trees as Hanging Points

Incorporate items already in your backyard such as trees to use as hanging points for decorations. The addition of elements of varying heights will add dimension to your party!

7. Find Some Shade With Drapery

With the hot temperatures in the summer, you will need a way to provide shade for your guests. Creating a canopy with the use of drapery over your dining table creates the perfect spot to hide from the hot summer sun.
